I facilitate group workshops for schools, charities, businesses and community groups on a range of subjects including poetry, scriptwriting, storytelling and solo performance. I sometimes run online workshops - I have none scheduled currently but sign up to my mailing list and you'll be the first to hear when I'm next running one.
I also work as a mentor, working on a one-to-one basis to help mentees from a range of different backgrounds achieve their creative goals. I have worked with theatre-makers, scriptwriters, comedians, podcasters, educators, novelists, and poets. I have helped support people to:
- develop TV pilots/treatments
- develop feature films from idea to first draft
- find holistic creative solutions to feelings of stuckness/existential career anxiety
- create solo shows in comedy, theatre and poetry
- develop the confidence to perform
- write a graphic novel script
Mentoring 2026 - 2027
I’m currently exploring a new mentoring payment system whereby I charge a means-tested hourly rate. Its rough out there at the moment, and I want my pricing to reflect the tricky place a lot of us creatives find ourselves in, while not undervaluing the service I offer.
This means that every hour of my time will be paid, whether that’s me reading your work, preparing for a session, or doing a live session with you. So, if you want me to read a manuscript/poetry collection/script and provide feedback, I’ll quote you for how many hours this will take, plus however many hours you’d like to spend discussing it.
This way of working also gives people the chance to access drop-in hourly sessions if they have a specific problem/issue/piece of work they want to discuss, for which they don’t need me to do any prep outside of the session. Maybe you want to work with me like this once, for two hours. Maybe you’d like three four-hour sessions. Maybe you’d like a fortnightly hour-long slot for six months, to support you writing A Thing. It’s all possible.
I’m hoping this will make my mentoring work more accessible and transparent, as well as ensuring I’m paid for all the hours I work.
Here are my rates:
People earning less than £30K p/year: £50 p/hour - A
People earning between 30 and 40K: £60 p/hour - B
People earning above 40K: £70 p/hour - C
You just need to let me know which letter you fall under - you don’t need to provide any evidence!
Why work with me?
You should work with the person who you feel best suited to, ultimately! I offer a warm approach, have experience working with neurodivergent people (especially ADHD guys), and always work professionally. I have an advanced certificate in Counselling Skills, which helps me provide a holistic service when people are experiencing creative blocks or struggling with low self-worth (in the Arts? Doubt it mate). I have 17 years of professional experience in the Arts, having worked extensively as practitioner, university lecturer, facilitator and mentor. I also offer a free 15-minute consultation call, so you can find out if you think I’m right for you then.
FAQs:
How long will it take you to read my work?
I’m pretty fast, but I’ll need to take notes. Usually 2 hours for a screenplay, average-length theatre script or poetry collection. For an average-length novel, 6 hours.
How long does the prep for a live interactive session take?
If you’re just having one session with me, I won’t charge you for more than one hour for prep. If you’re working with me for say, six weeks, I may need more time. But we’ll discuss all this in advance, so you’ll know how much everything will be before you commit.
When do I pay?
I’ll invoice you before the session, and you’ll need to pay on or before the day of the session.
Do I have to have a live session? Can you do a written report instead?
Of course. This will take me around an hour to write, or two if it’s a longer project.
What if I have a creative problem I want to work through but no actual work to share with you?
Great! I love helping people overcome feelings of stuckness and work to navigate creative hurdles. This is where my counselling skills come into play, as well as my experience across many art forms.
